Services

Mediation services for all kinds of disputes

Areas of Practice

Divorce Mediation

The goal of Divorce Mediation is to assist you and your spouse in the identification and resolution of marital conflict so the two of you can end your marriage as amicably and cost effectively as possible.  Issues that may be addressed include distribution of assets, child and/or spousal support, child custody, and other parenting or guardianship issues.

Workplace Mediation

Workplace Mediation is a popular method used in resolving conflict in the workplace.  Our President, Dave McDonald, is especially skilled at providing neutral and impartial services to assist in the resolution of workplace disputes. Types of employee grievances he has handled include peer to peer conflict, sexual harassment and EEO matters.

Child Abduction Mediation

Dave McDonald is one of the few local mediators who has mediation experience dealing with children taken to foreign countries by one of their parents.  He has traveled to other countries to settle parental disputes and safely return the children to their custodial parent.

Supervised Visitation and Monitored Exchange Services

We provide a safe, non-threatening environment for children to visit with non-custodial parents to maintain and improve parent/child relationships.  Our professionally trained staff members are available to supervise off-site visitation as well as at our office in Norfolk, VA.

Family Mediation

As children grow, separated or divorced couples may find the need to revisit parenting and custodial arrangements.  Post-divorce couples may also use mediation in the resolution of Parent and/or Grandparent issues. Family Mediation can also be used by members of a family business to address issues such as succession planning or selling a family business.

Elder Mediation

Oftentimes adult siblings will seek out the services of a skilled mediator to assist them in the care of elderly parents and/or asset distribution to fund this care.  Elder Mediation may also be helpful to resolve asset distribution conflicts following the death of elderly parents.

Co-Parenting Classes

This 4-hour course is designed to assist parents in developing an effective co-parenting relationship.  It meets the requirements of Court-Mandated Parenting classes but is also helpful for any couple dealing with parenting issues following separation or divorce.

Conflict Resolution/Anger Management Classes

We offer an 8-Step Conflict Resolution Program designed to reduce violence in the home, workplace and community. This class meets the requirement for Court-Mandated Anger Management Classes. It can also be specifically tailored to meet the needs of your organization.

Pre-Marital Mediation

This service is for those couple who wish to determine asset distribution and other matters prior to marriage.  Additionally, many of our Divorce Mediation clients use this service when they are entering into a second marriage in order to ensure asset distribution for their children of the first marriage.

LGBT Mediation

In the United States, same-sex couples have full marriage rights.  Same-sex couples may face conflict such as asset distribution, child and/or spousal support and child custody issues when choosing to separate or divorce.  Co-habitation agreements can also be developed for LGBT couples choosing to live together but not marry.

Training Opportunities

We provide individuals and businesses with the necessary skills and training to handle in-house conflict. Our training programs are tailored to meet the needs of your organization and can include the development of mediation skills and conflict resolution techniques.

Arbitration Services

Occasionally parties are unable to come to resolution on certain issues.  Rather than incur legal costs and court fees, they will choose to have our mediators make a decision on a specific issue.  Our mediators offer skilled, impartial consideration of all concerns and render a decision that is binding by all parties.
